"Adobe Days
& California Ways"
Presented at the historic Reyes Adobe

We are pleased to announce a NEW addition
to our educational program line-up!
The Reyes Adobe historical site is located in Agoura Hills
at the south/west corner of Rainbow Crest Drive
just off the 101 Freeway at Reyes Adobe Road.
Owned and operated by the City of Agoura Hills,
the 1700 square foot adobe was built in 1850 by
the Reyes family. Known as Rancho Las Virgenes,
it was a working cattle ranch, and a way station for travelers making their way up and down the
El Camino Real

Our new two-hour living history program will be held at
the Reyes Adobe, and has been developed to enhance
Fourth Grade study of California's Rancho Era.
Program highlights will include:

  • Daily life, and chores of "Los Californios"
    as portrayed by authentically costumed
    historical interpreters

  • Role of the Rancho Vaquero

  • Trade with Yankee clipper ships

  • Social life, including customs, celebrations,
    holidays, music, and dance

  • Important political events, and how they changed
Alta California including the Mexican War
for Independence, the Bear Flag Revolt,
    and the Treaty of Hidalgo

  • Meaningful "hands-on" activities designed to bring
this exciting chapter of California history to life!

Program cost is $8.00 per student if the program is presented to more than one class on the same day. The cost of a single program for just one class is $350.00
